Student flaunts theft of MAGA hat

A Sydney University student has allegedly had his ‘Make America Great Again’ hat stolen off his head after a lecture on Monday afternoon.

The arts student, claims he was walking outside the Seymour Centre when the thief “tailed behind me, took my MAGA hat, and then ran off”. Despite giving chase, he was ultimately unsuccessful in retrieving his hat.

Screenshots obtained by Pulp point to student Dexter Duckett as the perpetrator. Duckett bragged about stealing a hat on Facebook that same afternoon, referring to the victim as an “alt-right dickhead”.

A mutual friend of Duckett had apparently attempted to broker a deal between the two, but the alleged victim saw “no point” in rescinding the police report. He thought it was important to “call out an instance of ideological violence”.

The victim has filed a report to NSW Police, as well as Campus Security. He told Pulp he will “pursue all necessary legal action”.

Pulp reached out to Duckett about his motivation for the apparent theft. He had not responded at time of publication.
