RE-O DAY GETS WILD (AGAIN)

RE-O DAY GETS WILD (AGAIN)

Students, new and old alike, turned up in droves to join in the fun of Re-O Day on 30 July. The sun was shining, the weather was warm and excitement was indeed in the air to celebrate Re-O Day, a one day festival at the beginning Semester 2, continuing with the Semester 1 O-Week theme of ‘Into the Wild’. Re-O Day is designed to engage students with university life, showcasing over 200 clubs and societies, live music and performances, workshops and more, all to encourage and increase student involvement in a fun, festive atmosphere.

Steph, a first year arts student, had her first taste of Sydney University life at Re-O Day after a 6 month holiday. “It’s been really fun so far – I’ve joined loads of clubs and societies and have so far met some really cool people.” Steph, at the recommendation of an older sibling, brought an ACCESS card so she could take advantage of the discounts and join clubs and societies. “I’m looking forward to all the discounts. I’m also excited for the after party; it’s really cool that a lot of the events are free.”

Re-O Day is also a day for current university students to engage with student life. Fiona, a third year commerce student, is on the executive of Sydney Marketing Society, a club that uses Re-O Day to engage with its members. “Re O-Day is a really good way for us to get new members, and to tell them about all the events that we have this semester.” She says that her society sees Re-O Day as a crucial day to engage with their diverse membership base. “We do have quite a lot of people sign up at Re-O Day; it’s also a great way to engage with international students who join on Re-O Day as they are often interested in what we have to offer.”
